The Burnout Baramoter
A free burnout check for women in midlife
You’re tired. Not ‘big week, early night’ tired, but the kind that a weekend away doesn’t touch. Maybe you’ve started wondering whether it’s the job, everything you’re carrying at home, perimenopause, or all of the above having a meeting without you.
The Burnout Barometer gives you a clearer picture of what’s going on. It measures how worn out you’ve been feeling lately, and, if you’re in paid work, how much of that is coming from your job. That second part matters, because the answer changes what’s actually going to help.
How it works
Answer 6 to 13 short questions, depending on whether you’re in paid work. Most women finish in about three minutes.
Choose the answer that fits how you’ve felt lately. There are no right or wrong answers.
See your scores straight away, with an explanation of what they mean and practical ideas you can use this week.
It’s free, and you don’t need to give your email address to see your results.
What it is, and what it isn’t
The Burnout Barometer uses the personal and work-related burnout scales of the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI), a well-established research tool developed in Denmark. It measures burnout. It doesn’t diagnose anything, and it says nothing about your capability.
In my experience as a career counsellor, capability stays put while capacity changes, and burnout is what happens when the load outlasts it. I’ve been on the wrong end of that myself, more than once. This check is a good place to start making sense of where you’re at, so you can decide what to do about it with a bit more information in your hands.
The Barometer opens in a new page. You’ll see your results as soon as you finish.
